• Having trouble generating a Receivables With Tax Report in MYOB?

When FGH Tables performs a Purge on a AR2024 or MYOB AccountRight file, we run some 28 tests on the file before and after the Purge. The purpose is to ensure nothing went wrong during the Purge before the file is returned to the client.

As part of the testing we generate the Receivables With Tax and the Payables With Tax reports on both the pre-purge copy and the post-purge copy of the file. We are used to having problems with these two reports, often having to wait an inordinate amount of time, esp with the pre-purge copy.

During a recent purge, we struggled to believe how long the pre-purge Payables With Tax report was taking. The post-purge Payables with Tax took 90 mins! Even this was hard to believe. Several times were had to check the pre-purge process was still running. After about 10 hours of running we used Process Monitor to log what Huxley Application (AR2024) was actually doing.

Over a period of 7mins, AR2024 continued to read and write to the file in some sort of 'loop', but not locked in an 'infinite loop'. It read the same locations some 2200 times in the 7 mins, alternating between other locations.

We allowed the process to continue. AR2024 finally completed generating the Payables With Tax report. It took just over 15 hrs!! And while the post-purge file took 90 mins for the same report (7 pages), this was also far too long.

After this experience, we spent some time investigating what exactly AR2024 was doing, and how it was going about this report generation process. We eventually found the issue and made some tweaks. The same 7 page Payables with Tax Report with the pre-purge file now completed in under 5 mins!!
