Cancel your subscription - sign up again if and when req'd!

In the past, the only way to get updated tax tables for MYOB® was to subscribe to MYOB's support program known as Cover (now known as an AccountRight Live subscription).

Many users simply auto-renew their subscription. If you currently have a MYOB® support subscription, we STRONGLY recommend you do NOT renew it and allow it to lapse unless:

• You are using their 'Live' product range (AR2024) - you will need the subscription to receive updated tax tables even if you do not use your file in the 'cloud'.


• You are using the 'Classic' range (Accountright v19) and you need 'technical support' - although as the support lines are so busy, MYOB is referring people to their free MYOB Community Support Forum for technical support anyway.


• You are using the 'Classic' range (Accountright v19) and you are subscribing simply to access their SuperStream product. FYI there are a number of free or low cost options - see here.

'What about changes'
If you are concerned about law changes that might require update, provided you have a licence to any version of MYOB you can sign up anytime and receive an update to the latest version. For example a Plus v17 licence holder can sign up for a 12 month Subscription, upgrading their existing licence to the latest Plus v19.16 or Plus AR2024.

'What about loyalty'
Many companies do not reward customer loyalty, in fact some companies take advantage of it.

If you are continuing to use the 'Classic' range (Accountright v19), for most people there is absolutely no benefit from maintaining their MYOB Subscription. The only 'real' benefit was the tax tables, however these are now available from this website for a fraction of the cost of the MYOB Subscription. Those who use M-Powered Services can still subscribe to this as a standalone product for $10 per month. Given that MYOB Australia have stated repeatedly they will not be further developing the 'Classic' range (as in adding new features) and simply releasing Compliance Updates (new tax tables), this confirms there is little value maintaining your subscription.

Granted MYOB will eventually fix their 'Live' range (AR2024) to the point where it is not too far behind the 'Classic' range of products. If and when this happens, or you decide to upgrade to AR2024 anyway, you can take up a Live Subscription at that point - this entitles you to upgrade from your existing product to the latest version (AR2024 or v19.16). In the meantime, by cancelling (or not renewing) your subscription and using our tax tables, you can save hundreds of dollars. A subscription costs the same whether you have been loyally paying it for 20 years, or if you just sign up today.

Note:
Provided you have at some stage purchased a MYOB product, whether you have Cover or not, MYOB Australia will continue to provide file Confirmation (online or via telephone) - otherwise they would be breaching their licence agreement. You will also be able to continue using the Payroll feature without a Subscription.
